Dreams and Dreamers...

Howdy...  I'm on a Pinterest binge today and I've found an obscene amount of awesome images...  Let's just say I have my work cut out for me in the blogging department - so many ideas and post topics to work on!  Yes it's true, I'm a picture hoarding maniac, but remember that it would mean nothing without you my dear readers!  Haha, after all, I hoard them so I can share with you!  Anyway, I came across these two pieces of art/poster art/quotes/philosophies on dreams and dreamers whilst greedily picture hoarding saving pictures that I thought were very true, so I'm passing them on to you!  Oops, I rhymed, happy coincidence!

I believe that following your dreams in life is one of the most important components of happiness.  Many people value money and possessions but I value pursuing my passions and fulfilling my dreams.  We only get one life (that we know of) and we should make it count - which means doing what you love...  If not what's the point?  Don't do something for the money unless it's also something you love, in the end I believe personal fulfillment is more rewarding.  After all, when you die most people aren't thinking about how much money you had/made, they're thinking about the type of person you were.

Yes, these are hard times for dreamers...  Society moves at such a fast pace, it's hectic and bureaucratic at nearly every turn and that's not always easy to accept when you've got happy idealistic Kumbaya thoughts dancing around in your head for most of the day...  You know, why can't we all just get along?  Why have people made life so complicated?  Why can't we just go back to more simple times?  I wish I could move to Europe and live the life of a bohemian artist, lounging around painting and doing crafts all day, discussing politics, art and religion in small dark eclectic coffee shops...  I want to pack my bags and take off on a world adventure, not stopping until I've seen everything....  I want to live in a cave on the Greek island of Santorini and ride a moped or a bike instead of inching around in Miami traffic with all the bad rude drivers cutting me off...  The 'I wish' and the why, why, whys!  Yes, that is the life of a dreamer, at least this dreamer!  My father was a dreamer too so I definitely know where it comes from, boy do I wish he was alive to give me advice...

Most of the time dreaming is wonderful, until reality butts its ugly head in and tears away the facade.  Why?  Because life demands so much from us that sometimes it's impossible to get where you want to go and do what you want to do, instead you're stuck going and doing what you must do in order to get by.  So you see, I think it's really important that we try and rectify this problem, and the problem goes deep, real deep...as deep as every single human being on this planet.  Everyone must realize that most anything is possible but you've got to want it bad enough, bad enough to take action and change your current situation.  The very fact that we have come to refer to our passions and aspirations as "dreams" is sort of disturbing to me, as if suggesting that they are nothing more than idealistic far-fetched visions that hold no physical reality - such as dreams you have while sleeping.  Of course, most peoples' dreams are not easily attainable and take a lot of work and dedication, therefore for the most part I can understand why they are deemed "dreams."  However, I strongly believe we need to break our minds free of this mentality on dreams because it can easily act as a subconscious limitation/barrier/sabotage for many individuals.  Dreams we have while sleeping are dreams, but things we yearn to accomplish in this life are what makes us who we are, and the things that define us should never be dreams, they should be reality.  You should never push away your aspirations with "they're just dreams" just as you should never let someone convince you that your dreams are silly, impossible or that they don't matter - your dreams are everything in the grand scope of who you are and what you mean to this world.  If we all did what we truly loved I believe this world would be a better more harmonious place to live.

A life without dreams is no life at all, but a life wherein you ignore or put off your dreams is akin to living a lie.  Dream away and don't be afraid to try and make those dreams come true, but remember - nobody is going to do it for you because nobody cares about your dreams the way you do.

Anyway, enough of my philosophical rambling, I'll let you do the rest of the thinking/interpreting...  I'd love to know, what are your thoughts on this topic?

These words on dreams remind me of two of my favorite quotes:

"To believe in something, and not to live it, is dishonest."
~Gandhi

"Dare to dream, because only by dreaming, will you ever discover who you are, what you want, and what you can do."
~Julie-Ann Ford
